Heather Anne Dawson (née Hunt) – Vancouver Island Free Daily

May 8, 1952 – January 27, 2022
Heather passed away peacefully on January 27, with her husband, John, Fr. Jan and her friend Casey by her side. Heather was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on May 8, 1952 and moved to British Columbia with her mother, Mabel, in the 1960s, settling in Campbell River, where she made many friends and practiced many activities.
She’s worn many hats throughout her life, but she was a hairdresser at heart. She was very fond of her job and owned several shops in town, including Mane Street Hair Salon on Ironwood.
She was a hard worker, counselor, mentor, psychiatrist, caregiver and so much more. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and traveling and made many lasting friendships along the way.
In 1986 she met John, with whom she spent wonderful years. Together they became caregivers to Trisha, Marty and Bryan, whom she loved dearly. She and John moved to Belize for a short time, where they enjoyed their little home in Bullet Tree Falls.
She loved this place but had to return home after being diagnosed with cancer in 2016. She had many difficulties in her last years and John stayed by her side to look after her.
Heather had many dear friendships, especially through her church, and was very proud of John as he was ordained a deacon in the Catholic faith in 2018. She wanted all her friends to know she loved them and prayed for them daily .
Thank you to all the doctors, nurses, friends and family who cared for her in her final days.
2 Timothy 4:7-8
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now is reserved for me the crown of righteousness which the Lord, the just judge, will bestow upon me on that day.

A funeral mass will be held in his honor at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church at noon on February 11, 2022.
May she be at peace
