The big story this week is the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Womenโ€™s National Basketball Championship, which will take place right here in the VIU gymnasium this weekend. Tickets are still on sale if you want to have fun and cheer on the home team (you can join the STU crew if youโ€™re the ultimate Mariners fan). Keep reading to learn about the various activities surrounding the national championships, from a tailgating party to a sale of Mariners gear at the campus store. Our featured student this week is Amber Leasewho recently won player of the year honors and will play as Mariner for the last time this weekend.

Blue evening at VIUSU Pub ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™

Kick off the weekend of the National Womenโ€™s Basketball Championships with a Blue-Out Party at the VIUSU Pub on Thursday, March 24, from 8 p.m. to midnight. There will be a live DJ, themed drink specials, a Stuey tour, blue beer and contests/prizes. Prizes will be awarded for wearing the bluest, funniest blue outfit and the most marine gear at the same time!

VIUSU fanzone and tailgate party ๐Ÿฅณ

Join the tailgate party outside the VIUSU building on Friday, March 25 from 4-6 p.m. before the Marinersโ€™ home opener at the Nationals. There will be a BBQ outside the pub serving free hot dogs for students, as well as a live DJ, fanzone games and more. The pub will be open until 11:00 p.m. and will serve special matchday food and drink, including blue beer, with a DJ playing until 11:00 p.m.

Deadline for withdrawal without academic penalty: March 30 ๐Ÿ“…

A friendly reminder from the Counseling Center that March 30 is the last day for withdrawal without academic penalty from spring semester courses (or 8-month courses that started in September), or move from credit to audit (or vice versa). Itโ€™s a good idea to ask an advisor before changing your schedule.
