ALBANY — Tortilla Island, a quick-service restaurant offering what it calls “artisanal” and “exotic” tacos mostly with a Caribbean influence, has been open since late April at 319 Ontario Street, home from 2007 to 2014 of the late , lamented Bros Tacos.

Although passers-by report that the main windows remain wallpapered, Tortilla Island has a service window for walk-in orders and pages on the DoorDash and Grubhub delivery platforms.

Savory tacos include jerk chicken or shrimp, curry or mac and cheese, bacon and eggs, Philly cheesesteak, grilled cod and vegan chickpeas, with a choice of 10 toppings and sauces homemade taco (boom boom, spicy coriander cream and Tortilla Island Hot); sweet tacos include candied pear with mozzarella and strawberry cream cheese with strawberry sauce. Limited soft drinks and homemade sorrel lemonade are available. Salads to compose yourself are also on the menu.

Hours are inconsistent between the two delivery app listings, but generally appear to be 5:00 p.m. weekdays, 3:00 p.m. weekends, until 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Facebook were not immediately fired.
