9 Small Islands in British Columbia Perfect for Whale Watching This Summer


British Columbia has many small islands that are absolutely perfect for trying to spot whales in the wild. Plus, these are the perfect weekend summer getaway plans since you can take BC Ferries there.

While the weather is warm, start visiting all these little hidden spots and you might even catch yourself seeing humpback whales or orcas along the way.

Hornby Island

This small island in British Columbia has white sand beaches and turquoise blue waters that almost look like a little Hawaii. In addition, it is an ideal place to contemplate the ocean and have the impression of observing whales in the tropics.


Island of Cortes

This island is such an amazing place to spot massive humpback whales. If you manage to take a boat out on the waters surrounding the island, the whale watching sights are amazing.


Gabriella Island

Gabriola has so many amazing things to see, from land and sea. While you are on the island, you can experience many of their beaches and the amazing sandstone caves.

This small, isolated island has many small beaches to enjoy while gazing out over the ocean. You might see anything from a harbor porpoise to a gray whale from this island.
