Armand Denis – Vancouver Island Free Daily

May 2, 1936 – August 8, 2022
In loving memory~
It is with heavy hearts that we share that Armand passed away peacefully after a battle with dementia with his family by his side in Port Alberni.
Armand is forever missed by his beloved wife of 60 years, Yvette; son, Ron (Lori); daughter, Deb (Haas Joe); grandchildren, Alisha, Dylan, Nicola and Jenna. He also leaves to mourn Eva Crossland, Raymonde Bouchard, Rolande Poulin, Simone Chase, Lillian Girard, Ann-Marie Compagna, Paul (Lorraine) Denis, Ernie (Doris) Denis, Claude (Sue) Denis, Céline Doucette, Cecile (Sid ) Klics and Charles Denis.
He was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Laurette Denis; brother, Gilbert Denis, brothers-in-law, Real Compagna, Albert Bouchard, Albert Crossland, Murray Chase, Roland Girard and Wilfred Doucette; niece, Linda Bouchard; sisters-in-law, Glenda Denis and Terry Chase.
Armand was truly a family name always there for his children and grandchildren and very devoted to his parents and siblings. It was his mother who came to take Armand back to his resting place.
Each year, our summer holidays were spent in Léoville to visit family. He enjoyed spending time with his brothers and brothers-in-law having fun fishing, snowmobiling, ice fishing, playing cards and having great family meals.
Armand excelled in building homes starting with the family’s first home through to the one they now live in. He even ventured into building motor homes. When he wasn’t busy with his building, Armand enjoyed collecting VW cars, working on them to make them work and reselling them to buy more.
His favorite time of year was hunting season. He hunted moose on the Alaska Highway. We never bought any meat as he rarely came home empty handed.
Armand will be greatly missed – he was always there when needed.
The family would like to thank the West Haven care team and Dr. Puts and Dr. Smith for the wonderful and compassionate care they gave Armand while he was in their care and for the kindness and caring they witnessed to the family during his illness.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 20 at Holy Family Notre Dame Church, 4731 Burke Road in Port Alberni.
