Oak Island Moose Lodge donates $45,000 to BCC | News

Oak Island Moose Lodge #2059 recently donated $45,000 to the Brunswick Community College (BCC) Foundation, which will be used to provide a full scholarship to students (BCC) beginning this fall.

Oak Island Moose members had asked Brunswick Community College (BCC) President Gene Smith and BCC Foundation Executive Director Elizabeth Wassum to visit the lodge that day and upon arrival they were greeted by Moose members Bruce Leeming, George Cook, and Bob Ross holding the “big check,” who also shared their excitement about helping Brunswick County students pay for tuition, books, and fees for graduate from college.

“The Foundation is thrilled to be the recipient of this generous gift,” said Wassum. “This sum of $45,000 will help our students on their journey to achieve their academic and professional goals.”

Moose International is an organization of men and women dedicated to caring for young and old, bringing communities together and celebrating life.

The Moose organization contributes between $75 million and $100 million in community service (counting monetary donations, volunteer hours worked and miles traveled) each year. For more information on Moose Lodge #2059, call 910-457-5947.
